Odd: Well, Hullo There!

Hello there people who read this blog! I'm honored to make your acquaintance. My name is Odd, as you've probably heard, but I also go by Captain Odd, Captain Oddicus, Sir Oddicus IV, and/or Oddish. c: And, welp, this happens to be my first update.

The new chapter for my Zodiac Legacy, The Astro Family Legacy, will be up tonight for sure. I've had some trouble with game and computer crashes, but I'm ready to just put this all behind me and finish this chapter. As you'll probably see, I'm trying something new with the pictures- editing them and such. There's a small sample attached at the bottom of this post to tide you over. See you all later tonight!

So, AWS hit 500 hits already? I honestly wasn't prepared for this. For the special, I was actually going to have Mary be with all of her boytoys, but I currently don't have any of her CC in my game so that I can work on Unnamed Short Story One (because in the end, it really doesn't have anything to do with Butterflies anymore). Soo, instead of that, I thought I would show you all these lovelies! ^^

Now you may be asking why I'm making such a big deal out of a little short story. Well, I don't know. I just have a feeling in my bones that this is going to make an impression. Besides, if I want to write proper Sim stories in the future, I'll need to touch up on my photography, landscaping, and architecture anyway.

Another question. Will I be putting these Sims on the exchange? I'm really not sure. It's not that I don't want to share them, it's just that they're CC heavy. I mean, without her eyeliner, Feier's eyes look really wonky, and without her hair, her ears look atrocious. Without his contacts, Max looks too gentle. I could name a few more reasons, but I would rather not. I can put them up, but I want to know what you guys think first. 

Cele: Four Hundred! And Some Other Important Things

Already? I love you guys; I really do.
You know, I really never thought I would get this far at all. It still tickles my buttons (who says that anymore) when I check AWS and see even a mere +10 views. You can't imagine how I feel when the count jumps +50 in three days and then to 100 in three more days.

I know that four hundred and even hundred numbers are pretty measly for Simmers these days, but to me, they're huge stepping stones that I don't take for granted and hope that I never will. Once again, thank you all for getting me this far. You have no idea how it makes me feel as a writer.

I do have one request though . . . I would really like it if my readers started commenting on the forum thread more often. That's one of AWS's arteries, and without it, AWS would probably die.

Well, I do believe that's all I have to say on that matter. On another note, I have gathered enough screenshots for four short chapters, but I could combine them to form two chapters. I may go with the latter, but it just depends; what would you all want me to do?

(Also, I do believe I'll be doing something special for the 500th view. (: )

Aside from story news, as you can see, Something Witty has gone through some major changes. Aside from getting a new author and admin, I've added several pages. Here's a little explanation of them:

* Main / Updates: This really won't be for random things anymore. It will be for story updates, blog interface updates, and life updates. Things that would generally be deemed as important.
* Authors: A little page that may or may not give more insight about myself and Odd. At the moment, it's pretty empty, but maybe later it will serve a good purpose.
* Stories and Legacies: Banner links to our stories and/or legacies.
* Pages of Humor: Our pages for random and/or humorous things. (: I'm too random to be serious all the time.
* Le Chat: The chatbox. The only things I ask in regard to this are be kind to others and do not impersonate Odd or me. I will more than likely shut it down first thing if this happens. I can't assign moderators since I'm using the free version of Cbox, so I'm going to trust that no one will be rude enough to do something like that, but I'm sure someone will sooner or later.

Wow, that was long. I think that's all though . . . for now.

Mary V2 is up early for download. Believe it or not, I really tried to be conscious about how much CC I used. >.< I went down on the clothes; as for the make-up . . .

Three Hundred and One!

Another milestone come and gone. Ah, what a journey it's been. A short one, yes, but a journey nonetheless.

This isn't going to be a very large update since there's not much to say, but in good news, I only have to go to school two days this week and then I'll be off for winter break. (: Prepare for many, many chapters.

Another Milestone and a Mini Update

So, AWS has hit 200 views. In no time at all, 100 views have come and gone.
I'm so proud of how things are coming along. Although it has been slow the past few weeks due to school, that should change very soon. I have End of Course next week, and after that, I should be free as a bird since I don't have to take finals. Wow, it's hard to believe one semester has come and gone already . . .

But this isn't about school. This is about Sims. Not including the days I don't have to go due to finals and snow days, I will have approximately two weeks to work on the legacy, and I intend to devote almost all of my time to it.

Things are going to seriously speed up in the coming chapters. I've taken the first three chapters slowly to introduce Mary and her situation, but now that that has come and gone, it's time to speed up. If I don't, I fear I won't have enough time for all of my future plans in the legacy.

I, myself, personally don't like it whenever things move along too quickly, but now I see why they do (in some cases). So, in the coming chapters, expect faster plots and seemingly quick relationships forming.

A Mini-Milestone

Today, A Winter's Snowfall got 100 hits. ^^ Although it's a minuscule amount, it's more hits than my other story could have gotten in a year, and it's only been about five days. I honestly didn't have high hopes for AWS, but people have enjoyed it, and nothing negative has been said about it, not even about the melodrama. There's not a doubt in my mind that I won't continue this story to the best of my ability now. ^^ I hope in coming months we'll be able to double, triple, and expand that number into great amounts.

The Emotional Abuse of a Melodramatic Teenager

So, after much delay, after many issues, Chapter One is out! ^.^
Albeit it's really melodramatic, I needed to set the stage for future events, and I really didn't want to have to dwindle on the fact that her parents liked to party hard instead of take care of their kid.

Anywhoozle, I'll be getting the pictures for Chapter Two tonight. I may not get around to writing it, but at least I'll be ready in the morning. I do believe I'll make an entrance for a furry friend as well. I'm dying to try out Pets since my Sims 2 experience with it was horrible.

Now, I'm gonna go put the story up on the storyboard and then I'll get back to Simming. Hopefully I won't get too sleepy to write a good chapter.

And for some reason, I absolutely love this picture. I think it's the situation and just how well her appearance and expression plays it out. ^^

This Chair . . .

Now, you may be wondering why this chair, of all chairs, is important. It is important because it marked that I was able to successfully get out of buy mode. After investigating, I found that it could have been a number of things causing my issue. My Mods folder framework was outdated, mods could have been conflicting, something could have been outdated, or maybe I just had way too much CC. Either way, my problem is solved. ^^ Unless EA releases a Seasons EP, I think I'll keep away from mods.

Happiness abound! 

Sigh . . .

Well, I decided to do something a bit smarter. First, I did a "Save As . . ." and then entered the file. So the first thing I did was enter buy mode and then exit. Everything worked fine. Then I entered buy mode and placed Pose Player down. Endless loading. So I was pretty fed up by this point, but then my logic came back to me. I went into the game again and placed down a random item. Endless loading. Finally, I just deleted Pose Player, only to find that even without it, I'm having endless loading.

At this point, I'm stumped. I ran Dashboard and scanned all of my files. Nothing's wrong. Finally, I just decide to take my Mods folder out and run the game without CC. Everything worked fine. |: I think I'm just gonna start my mods folder from scratch. I suppose Chapter One will be out sometime tomorrow. >.<

Some Bugs and a Boatload of CC

Well, we're already encountering some bugs.
I'm getting stuck in buy mode, and I'm pretty sure I know why, but then again I'm not sure. Before I started my legacy, I completely cleared out my game and forgot to get my launcher downloads folder. My computer then proceeded to bork up and I couldn't retrieve the old file. Now, I always see the silver lining in these situations--start anew and get new CC.

Let's just say I went a little crazy. Now, for the past two hours, I've been cleaning up my packages. Let me say this now: I despise Peggy and her lack of proper file naming. Seriously, I just gave up trying to clean up that section of my packages. Luckily, I did manage to clear out a lot of hair and clothing packages (and I'm positive that there will be files that I'm going to miss when I figure out I deleted them), and now I'm hoping that my game will run smoothly again.

If that is not the case, then I think I'll have to remove Pose Player. I installed it last night since I knew it was going to be useful in the future, and that's where this all started. I'm not saying it is Pose Player's fault, but that's just where it started. I'm going to go try and run the game again. If it messes up the first time, so be it. If it messes up the second time, I'll do as "Save As . . .", and if it messes up the third time, goodbye Pose Player. T_T

Postin' on the forums, postin' on the forums

I'm quite proud of myself. Not only have I accomplished updating every blog in one day, but I also posted a thread on the forums, put Mary up (I would have liked to hold off on that a little while, but I needed an avatar), and I put the story on the storyboard. ^^ I'm quite proud of my myself. I didn't think I would make it this far. Aaaand not only did I put everything up, I also decided to get out of my little hole and be a part of the community. Since I'm very anti-social, I'm double-proud of myself.

I doubt all of this sounds very important, but to me it is. ^^ I was never the community type (fear of rejection, insults, drama, etc. etc.), but I'm glad I decided to get out there. I was very happy when I found that people enjoyed my story. Very happy. Perhaps that was my boost of courage. I don't know. It was nice though. ^^ I think maybe this time I won't give up on the story, that is, if my game allows for me to continue.

So, that was my happy little review of the previous night. Chapter One should be out sometime tonight or early tomorrow morning. It would be out sooner, but today is Thanksgiving and I have to go and dine with my family that lives farther away. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone~!

Making Glorious Progress

So, I've just finished the Introduction and Mary's Information (which I suggest reading). ^^ I think things are coming along nicely. I suppose I'll go make a quick banner and then open a thread on the forum. Is it weird that I'm kind of nervous? Ah well, hopefully the introduction will prove to be entertaining. I thought it was pretty boring myself, but then again, it was just an introduction.

Well, I suppose I should start planning a storyline. (: Wish me luck~

Hiya random stranger on the interwebs! It seems you have stumbled across this . . . eh . . . "humble" blog. An empty blog, yes, but a blog nonetheless.

What am I going to do with this blog you ask? Well . . . I don't know, but it will be put to good use. Possibly something involving Sims 3. Like a story. A legacy. Something like that. *hint, hint*

So, I've tried the whole Blogger (Blogspot?) /Legacy thing before . . . didn't work out too well. That was primarily my glitchy game's fault, but I also didn't like how the story was turning out. (Apparently, I'm a terrible writer when it comes to legacies.) But! I'm here to try again! Will I finish the story? Possibly. Will my game mess up and cause me to lose everything? More than likely. Will I be too chicken to put my story [links] on the forum? Yes! Will I do it anyway? Of course.

Questions aside, here's to hoping I make an enjoyable story and other enjoyable stuff. Now, I must frolic off to the world of Sims. This legacy isn't going to write itself.
